A technical advisor at one of the UK’s leading oil blenders has proved his knowledge of the industry by achieving a well-respected qualification.
Wayne Devonport joined the Morris Lubricants team just over a year ago and has been studying for the UKLA Certificate of Lubricant Competence.
The 12-month course is split into modules focussing on each sector in the lubricants industry, including automotive, industrial and metal working.
Wayne, 31, excelled in his studies and obtained a distinction.
Bridgnorth-based Wayne already had a good knowledge of the industry having previously worked in automotive garages and for a lubricant aerosol company, but he said the course was a big help in his new role.
He said: “It gave a really good insight into the all of the different aspects of the lubricants industry. I really enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone starting out in a new job within the trade.
“I’m proud to have achieved a distinction and look forward to putting what I’ve learnt into practice and helping our valued customers.”
Wayne’s role at Shrewsbury-based Morris Lubricants primarily sees him offering advice to customers who contact the company with telephone queries.
He also takes oil samples for analysis and works on the development of new products.
“I am really enjoying my job,” said Wayne. “It’s really challenging with lots going on. There is a fantastic team here with decades of experience between them.”
Andrew Goddard, managing director of Morris Lubricants, said: “We have been delighted to welcome Wayne to the team and congratulate him on obtaining this certificate – and with a distinction, to boot.
“Offering knowledgeable, sensible advice is a real cornerstone of what we stand for at Morris Lubricants. It can be confusing for customers at times, so to have someone on the end of a phone who has been recognised for his extensive knowledge of the lubricants industry about is vital.”
Morris Lubricants is a British company that has been manufacturing lubricants in Shrewsbury since 1869. The company is now manufacturing more than a dozen passenger car engine oils. Even as recently as 2005, that figure would have been as low as two or three.
The company has recently launched WHATOIL? – which can be found at www.whatoildoineed.com – as a user-friendly internet-based system which advises the correct product simply by entering a few basic details.
