One of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of automotive and industrial lubricants is searching for brand ambassadors within all tiers and forms of competitive motorsport during 2017.

Morris Lubricants launched its successful Morris Lubricants Racing (MLR) programme in 2016 to support grass roots British motorsport and promote the company’s premium quality oils and lubricants. More than 30 drivers and riders, including three who became British champions, were supported.

The Shrewsbury-based company opens its 2017 MLR programme to applicants at Autosport International Show at the NEC, Birmingham from January 12th to 15th with existing ambassadors and new talent invited to apply for sponsorship.

More than 100 applications from talented drivers and riders, who provided details about themselves, their racing credentials and their ambition, were received by the company from all levels of British motorsport in 2016.

The ambassadors competed in a wide range of motorsport competitions, including the British Rally Championship (BRC) 2, British Rallycross Championship, British Truck Racing Championship, British Pickup Racing Championship, The Ginetta Juniors, The British Drift Championship, the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 (BSB), British Tractor Pulling Championship, Monster Truck Racing, Ultra Off Road Racing, British Speedway and many more.

Support packages for a year were offered to selected ambassadors, which included oil and lubricant supply, hats, badges and decals for their vehicles. In return, the MLR ambassadors agreed to carry the company’s brand on their vehicles and clothing and to provide regular performance updates and social media promotion linking to Morris Lubricants’ Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as using the #MorrisLubricants.

Three ambassadors became British champions – Colwyn Bay’s Matt Edwards was the runaway leader of the BRC2, teenager Dan Rooke clinched the British Rallycross Supercars Championship with one round to spare in his debut season and Pete Founds and passenger Jevan Walmsley from Wirral-based Team Founds Racing won the British F2 Sidecar Championship.

Other ambassadors included Hereford’s Lea Wood, who was runner up in his debut season in the British Pickup Racing Championship and Dave Jenkins from Stone, who was third in the British Truck Racing Championship.

Morris Lubricants, which has a rich pedigree of supporting British motorsport, is looking forward to meeting potential 2017 MLR programme ambassadors at the Autosport International Show where they will be based on Stand 6934 in Hall 6.

The company will have technical specialists and sales representatives on hand to provide technical advice and information to visitors. British Rallycross Champion Dan Rooke and British Pickup Racing Championship runner up Lea Wood will also be making an appearance on the stand together with others yet to be confirmed.

Morris Lubricants will be showcasing its portfolio of products formulated for competitive motorsport, ranging from high-performance engine, gear and transmission oils through to coolants.

“We are keen to support talented British drivers and riders whether they are already established in motorsport or climbing through the ranks,” said managing director Andrew Goddard. “We understand how difficult it is to compete in all levels of motorsport without support.

“The MLR programme also provides the company with the perfect platform to promote and demonstrate that our oils and lubricants can cope with the highest demands of motorsport. We are delighted that the programme has already enjoyed great success and it will be developed and expanded for 2017, with a talented new crop of drivers given the opportunity to join.

“We look forward to meeting both new and existing customers at Autosport International Show and would urge anyone interested in the MLR programme, our latest products, technical advice or guidance to visit our stand.”
