“MAN” IN BLACK MAKES HIS MARK AT DONINGTON

Dave Jenkins gave his British Truck Racing Championship campaign a major boost after a brilliant weekend of racing on his favourite track at Donington.
 
The Morris Lubricants sponsored Jenkins Motorsport team recorded two wins, a second, third and fourth place in an action packed two days. If it hadn’t been for two time penalties the results could have been even better.
 
Dave had gone into the weekend still looking for his first race win of the season but that hurdle was overcome in the very first race on Saturday. The “MAN” in Black was fastest in qualifying and too fast for the rest of the pack as he took the chequered flag.
 
Race two proved to be more difficult due to the wet conditions and problems with a steering damper. Despite that Dave still managed to bring the truck home in fourth position.
 
Another great performance in the first race on Sunday saw Dave finish second but drop to third due to a time penalty and the same thing happened in the next race with the “MAN” in Black winning the race but relegated to second, again on a time penalty.
 
In the last race of the day Dave and the current champion, Mat Summerfield, both gave their fans something to shout about as they fought for victory. In a very close contest it was Dave who eventually came out on top thanks to a brilliant overtaking manoeuvre in the penultimate lap. That took him ahead of Summerfield, a position he held for the final lap and the race to the flag.
 
Everything is now set up for another exciting set of races as the teams move to Snetterton this weekend.
 
Assessing his Donington performance Dave said: “I’m really pleased for the team that we got our first race wins of the season. We’ve definitely closed the gap on Mat but, while we can celebrate what happened last weekend, that has no bearing on this weekend. We’ll go to Snetterton determined to do the same again.”
