Morris Lubricants adds weight to Strongest Disabled Man contest

One of UK’s leading independent lubricants blenders is adding some weight to the Arnar Márs World's Strongest Disabled Man 2016 contest in Manchester

The event’s co-organiser Lee Small turned to the Shrewsbury-based business for help when he needed 11 empty oil barrels for the contest, to be held at Event City, Trafford Centre on August 14.

Competitors will be challenged to lift Atlas stones onto the barrels for the final of six challenges for both strongest man and strongest woman. There will also be a ‘challenge stone’ with five stones in a row each weighing up to 140 kilos for the men and women at the end of the competition.

The distinctive blue and yellow Morris Lubricants branding will remain on the barrels during the competition, which will advertise the company to competitors and spectators.

“We have attracted 22 athletes from Australia, America and across Europe and this is the first time in 14 years that the competition has been held outside Iceland,” said Lee, who lives in Connahs Quay and is co-organising the event with Arnar Márs. “An American producer is flying over to film the event, which we hope will be televised in the run up to the Rio Olympic Games.”

He thanked Morris Lubricants for supporting the event. “It’s great to have such a well-respected company behind us,” he said.

Craig Bastable, Morris Lubricants’ marketing manager, said the company was more than happy to assist Lee in bringing this great competition to the UK.

“We are often called upon to provide successful solutions to challenging lubricants issues and couldn’t resist adding some weight to the Strongest Disabled Man 2016 contest,” he added.
