Man in Black ready to race in Germany

Truck race star Dave Jenkins is always a man in a hurry whether in the cab of his “MAN in Black” or getting ready for racing.

This week has been no exception as the Jenkins Motorsport Team have been getting prepared for the highlight of the British Truck Racing season, the European leg at the famous Nurburgring in Germany.

Top truck racers from across Europe will take to the same track this weekend that played host to F1 superstars like Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton last Sunday. And it looks as if the racing from the big boys will be just as exciting as the performance put on by the thoroughbreds of F1.

The “MAN in Black” is looking good and proved to be running well in testing after the damage accumulated at Thruxton last time out. Since then the truck, which is sponsored by Shrewsbury-based Morris Lubricants, has taken part in the famous Cholmondley “Pageant of Power” where it showed a clean pair of tyres to a lot of high powered competitors over the 1.2 mile sprint and hill climb circuit. Dave Jenkins and his team also spent two days at Truckfest held at Malvern last weekend.

One major change in Germany will see the trucks revert to normal racing format where the drivers will have qualifying on Friday with fastest taking pole position at the front of the grid and not starting from the back as they have done in the previous three rounds.

Dave said: “I’m really looking forward to this weekend although I think conditions are going to be tough for the trucks and the drivers. I’ve done well in Germany in the past and the Nurburgring is a fantastic track to drive on. This weekend would be a great time to chalk up my first win of the season.”
