A man described by the managing director as “Mr Utility” has clocked up 25 years’ service with a leading British lubricants company base in Shrewsbury.

Since Brian Edwards, 46, joined Morris Lubricants on January 16, 1989, he has done a wide range of jobs on the filling and blending lines and is currently loading superviser.

Managing director Andrew Goddard, who worked alongside Mr Edwards to learn the ropes when he first joined the company, praised his contribution to the successful business.

“Brian has been an extremely conscientious employee and has always been the person to go to when you want something done,” said Mr Goddard. “He’s our Mr Utility, a very flexible worker who can turn his hand to anything.”

Mr Edwards, who received a gold watch from the company to recognise his loyal service, said he had enjoyed the variety of the work over the years and the camaraderie of workmates.

“Whatever job I am given, I like to see it through and I’m very conscientious,” he said. “The company has a great attitude towards its staff and there is mutual respect from Andrew down. The 25 years have flown by and the company has done nothing but support me throughout this time.”

Mr Edwards, who lives in Cross Houses, near Shrewsbury, is currently working towards an Institute of Leadership and Management level three qualification. He enjoys playing golf in his spare time and also supports the England rugby team.

Morris Lubricants is Britain’s leading family-owned, independent oil blenders and marketers. The company, which employs 140 people, has around 4,000 customers in all corners of the UK and exports to more than 65 countries worldwide.
