This past weekend we were at Thruxton race course with BTCC driver Lea Wood of the Houseman Racing team. As one of Lea’s main sponsors (Morris Lubricants) we asked Lea Wood & BTCC fans to send us their questions into Facebook & Twitter with the hashtag #AskLeaWood.

We got a lot of interesting questions some where bit different to your general motor racing questions but Lea was very gracious and answered them all. So below is the full Q&A with Lea see if you can find your answer.

1 - Katie Peacock on Facebook asked – Who has been your toughest competitor?

Lea Wood: “My toughest competitor this year has to be  Marc Hynes in the 888 Racing MG. We’ve had some good racing today & he has been slightly quicker than me. So we are going to make a few changes to the car to try and real him in on the next race”.

2 – Lisa Nelson on Facebook asked – What’s the best feature of the new NGTC Toyota Avensis?

Lea Wood – “Obviously it’s a brand new car too us with the big tyres, it’s also quite sleek so it cuts through the aire as well”.

3 – Jayne Dallow from Facebook & DerrickF from the USA on Twitter asked – What type of car do you drive around personally?

Lea Wood – “I drive a Seat Leon FR & the works van as part of the family business. The Van is not quite as fast but the Seat Leon is like being back on the race track again”.

4 – Niki Richards on Facebook asked – Who do you rate in the Championship at the Mintue?

Lea Wood – “Jason Plato, Matt Neal & Sheddon worked hard & have the right kit about them so we are our way towards that. But I would like to say Jack Goff he has been driving well & has done a fair job with what they have got. He’s in his 2nd year so has 12 months over us but we are pushing hard to get as close to him as we possibly can.

5 – Melissa Burt on Facebook & Julie Hancock on Twitter asked – Are you going to name the new car General Lea after the success of using it for Last years Vauxhall.

Lea Wood – “To be honest we haven’t got their yet but we might do. We might do it worked well for the Vectra last year”.

6 – Amber Bate on Facebook asked – What’s the best moment of your career so far?

Lea Wood – “ Last Years winning the Jack Sears Trophy. When we came into BTCC 5 years ago we had enough budget to run for 2 meetings. So we never thought we would win anything. So to win the Jack Sears Trophy was fantastic. It was a big moment in my career & it’s helped us this year we’vr got a great reputation from it & we are working off that & trying to see what we can win and aim to get on that podium this year.

7 – Niall Thorgood on Facebook asked – What British Touring car from the past would Lea most like to have driven in competition?

Lea Wood – “I would have to say the Rapid Fit Ford Mondeo which won the super 2000 car award one of the very expensive pro drive cars. I always liked them & always used to watch them at Pembry. They looked so nice & sounded lovely. When I was younger I always wanted to have ago in 1.

8 – Daniel Simson on Twitter asked – What can swim faster a horse or a dog?

Lea Wood – “A Dog”

9 – Adam Bate & Sorrell Addis was Davies on Facebook asked – What is your favourite circuit?

Lea Wood – My favourite Circuit is Oulton Park. Great Racing there what with the clio cup. Takes me back to my club racing days with the super silhouette did a lot of winning there. We had a 2nd place with the Clio there & then when we took the Honda integra, our first BTCC car we had a great assault there & it always has been a fantastic circuit for us. So we are looking forward to that which is the next one on the calendar.

We would like to say thank you very much to all the people that sent their questions in and to keep checking the facebook & twitter to find out more details like this.
