Truck racing favourite Dave Jenkins has got off to the dream start in his quest to regain the British Championship.
The 39-year-old from Stone was in scintillating form on the opening weekend of the BTRA (British Truck Racing Association) season at Brands Hatch.
MAN in Black Jenkins secured two race wins finished second twice and also registered a fifth place finish to open up an early five-point lead in the championship standings.
And that was the perfect start for Jenkins and Team Digraph on what was the first outing on British soil for his new MAN TGX truck for which Morris Lubricants has supplied its new range of Versimax heavy duty diesel engine oil products.
Jenkins, who won the title in 2011 and is sponsored by leading oil blender Morris Lubricants, said: “It was a brilliant weekend and really sets down a marker for the rest of the season.
“Our aim this season is to get regular podium finishes and we want to be up there challenging for the title.
“We had some great testing with our new, fast truck in the Czech Republic in March and we were very optimistic about the season ahead.
“To go to Brands Hatch and produce some fantastic results is a huge confidence boost and we can’t wait for the rest of the season now.”
Jenkins now has a month long break from action before returning to the track at the end of May at Pembrey in Wales.
“There is a lot of hard work ahead and some very tough competition out there,” added Jenkins.
“The day after we got back from Brands Hatch we started the hard work all over again and began the preparations for Pembrey.
“If we want to be title contenders, we can’t afford to take our foot off the gas for one second.”
Jenkins uses specialist performance lubricants in his truck, which are blended at Morris Lubricants’ factory in Shrewsbury.
