Footballers from two of Shrewsbury’s best known companies will get a rare chance to display their skills at the town’s Greenhous Meadow on May 11 when they meet in a challenge match for the West Midlands Air Ambulance Services.

Award winning caravan dealership Salop Leisure will take on the UK’s leading family-owned, independent oil blenders and marketers,Morris Lubricants in the charity match on Shrewsbury Town’s hallowed turf.

Both businesses are keen to drum up as much support as possible for the hour long, 11-a-side match, which kicks off at 7pm. The £1 entrance fee will go to the Air Ambulance Service.

Supporters will have access to the Arthur Rowley lounge where refreshments will be available.

Last year, Salop Leisure beat car and commercial dealership Greenhous Group 3-2 in the annual charity match.

“Company pride is at stake and we aim to maintain our winning record in this charity match,” said Salop Leisure’s managing director Mark Bebb. “Our players have been training for the match as we realise that Morris Lubricants will be formidable opponents.

“The match is a great opportunity for players from both companies to play at one of the best stadiums in the SkyBET League One and we hope to raise a large amount of money for two very deserving charities.”

Andrew Goddard, managing director of Morris Lubricants, believes the match is a great way to have fun while raising money for charity.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for players from both companies to play at the Greenhouse Meadow stadium and to raise money to support the work of a great charity,” he said.

“Our company is keen to beat Salop Leisure to claim the bragging rights in Shrewsbury and hope as many people as possible turn up to show their support for the players and the charity.”
